First time printing
Journal Entry: Tue Apr 15, 2008, 8:30 PM
9 more days until my final critique in class and I finally went into school tonight to print digitally for the first time. Hi, my name is Laurel and I'm a weird procrastinator. Since I tend to apply what I call a "dada approach" to my work so frequently I don't have to get too bent out of shape with printing. Regardless, I thought that surely I had to have a Ph.D and have performed brain surgery at least 9.5 times in order to print. Turns out all you have to do is sit down, make some profile adjustments and hit print. Moreoever, it was extremely rewarding, as printing so often is. Best part is all you do is sit there and edit more photos as you wait to print....BRILLIANT!
Now don't get me wrong, I still love the darkroom, but access to multiple top of the line ink jet printers is fabulous. too bad I wasted my "free" access to all of that business through out the semester and now only have a couple days to seize any oppurtunities.
A bigger problem is coming up with a coherent body of work for critique. Each critique I've had so far this semester has been a completely different display of work. My most recent critique involved a number of the experimental Diana shots, yet my professor felt there still wasn't enough direction behind my work; I was told to give the audience more direction, to lead them.
Um....
9 days and counting and I'm still not sure where to take my audience. I do however have my second book (aka: cohesive body of work) that I hope to have back from the publisher by finals. Fingers crossed...

...And out come the wolves
their paws trampling in the snow of the alphabet
I stand on my head and watch it all go away...
Nice to see (er, "see") you here, milady
It was wonderful seeing you tonight. We must do something again soon! (Something with a lunge and a twist!)
